Your title and description are the first things patients see of your website – before they even click. Test here whether your text is shown in full and makes people curious.
Why count pixels instead of characters?
Google doesn’t cut titles off after a fixed number of characters, but according to the available width in pixels. A “W” is much wider than an “i”, so a 55-character title may fit while a 50-character one gets cut off. This tool measures the actual width in the font Google uses.
Good titles and descriptions for practices
A good page title names your specialty and location, for example “GP in Vienna-Mariahilf – Dr Muster”. That way searchers see straight away that they’ve found the right place, and Google understands what your page is relevant for.
The description is your short advert: what do you offer, what makes your practice special, and what should patients do – book an appointment online, for instance? Google doesn’t always show your description, but a good one clearly improves the chances.
